La Kermesse Franco-Americaine | |||
| On September 1, 2006, one of La Kermesse's members, was struck and killed by a drunk dirver while riding his motorcycle. Normand J. Audie, who was 21 at the time of his death, had been involved in La Kermesse for many years. His mom, Karen is a past member and his uncle Steve Audie is also a past member. Norman volunteered many years helping both of them but he spent the last few years as a member helping his pepere, Roland Gagnon, a long time member and now past member. He also helped his memere, Priscille Gagnon, President, who enjoyed having Normand around helping during the festival set up, during the festival weekend and even at teardown. Ironically on the day he died, Normand had spent several hours helping other members of La Kermesse set up its stage in the park on Water St. for a Drug Awareness Program. Shortly after Normand's death, Graig Morin and his family and friends at All Day Breakfast along with Normand's dad Bruce organized a Bike Run to raise money for the Normand J Audie Scholarship. The Bike Run was a great success and plans for that year's Bike Run were started immediately. Again this year a Bike Run is planned for August 16. For more www.normandaudie.com. All monies raised will go to the Normand J. Audie Scholarship c/o Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution. Thank you for your support. We miss you Normand.
